(1924-1984) Капоте, ТрумэнПисатель, один из видных представителей южной литературной школы США. Первые рассказы опубликовал в 1945; первый роман "Другие голоса - другие комнаты" ["Other Voices, Other Rooms"] (1948) принес ему репутацию тонкого стилиста и мастера лирического диалога, укрепившуюся после выхода в свет сборников рассказов "Дерево ночи" ["Tree of Night"] (1949) и "Местный колорит" ["Local Color"] (1950). В повести "Лесная арфа" ["The Grass Harp"] (1953) особенно ярко проявилось понимание автором психологии детей и "чудаков" - людей, живущих по особым законам. В 1958 вышел сборник "Завтрак у Тиффани" ["Breakfast at Tiffany's"], по заглавному рассказу которого был впоследствии снят фильм. Примерно в то же время увлекся репортажной журналистикой и стал сотрудничать в журнале "Нью-Йоркер" [ New Yorker, The], где опубликовал, в частности, подробный отчет о гастролях в СССР американской театральной труппы, показывавшей оперу "Порги и Бесс" ["Porgy and Bess"].
